Cause

For episode 4 of Here, There, Everywhere we traveled to Ucluelet on Vancouver Island to visit the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Nation. We met with the trail crew to learn how the Nation is balancing the preservation and development on the sacred land of Čumaata, with the goal of becoming the first culturally aware trail network. The Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Nation are using trail building and mountain biking as a new opportunity for their community to connect with nature and to share their culture with visitors. 

The community and the crew are working hard to build a future that involves mountain biking in their community but the most obvious hurdle, like always, is access to equipment. The idea was born to collaborate with local artist and trail builder, Jay Tuuchii Millar to create this custom Kona Process X to raffle off in order to raise funds to purchase bikes for the community. With the help of both the Ucluelet Mountain Bike Association (UMBA) and Kona Bicycles we hope to raise enough money for the the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Nation to acquire a fleet of bikes.”
